Abstract

Abstract -  The purpose of this study is to: (1) Identify the design and construction of an automatic locking device for archive cabinets using a keypad and fingerprint. (2) To understand the implementation of an automatic unlocking device for archive cabinets using a keypad and fingerprint.


The implementation of this study will take place from June to August 2024, located in Mamuju District, Mamuju Regency, West Sulawesi Province. The design and development of this Automatic Key Security system are structured, encompassing the analysis of the existing system and the proposed system design. The research method used in the development of this system is the Waterfall method, which includes Requirements Analysis and Definition, System and Software Design, Implementation and Unit Testing, Integration and System Testing, as well as Operation and Maintenance. This study uses observation techniques, interviews, and literature review to collect data.


The study results show that the designed automatic key security system functions well, where all components such as the keypad, fingerprint sensor, solenoid lock, buzzer, and LCD were successfully implemented according to the initial design. This system is capable of enhancing security and convenience in the use of filing cabinets without the need for a manual key, while also minimizing the risk of losing the key or forgetting to lock the cabinet.
